The Yakobium sandstone bow tie is a standout piece in the realm of fashion accessories. Its design, which mirrors natural rock formations, is brought to life using a novel technological process. This process, unique to Yakobium, enables the creation of such intricate structures without causing harm to the natural environment. Each bow tie is hand-finished, ensuring that no two pieces are alike, and is presented in handmade packaging, further enhancing its exclusivity.
The production process of this unique accessory involves a combination of sketching, 3D modeling, 3D printing, CNC milling, handicraft, and finishing. The final product measures 114 x 58 x 20 mm, a testament to the precision and attention to detail employed by the design team. The bow tie can be worn like any other, with an adjustable, pre-tied band that fits almost any neck. Its sandstone texture not only provides a unique tactile experience but also reflects light, adding a touch of elegance to any outfit.
The project, which began in 2012 with a sandstone illuminated sculpture prototype, culminated in 2019 with the creation of a special edition of bow ties. This allowed the artistry of Yakobium to be accessible to a wider audience. The design team, consisting of Jiri Andel and Pete Isev, faced the challenge of developing a process that would allow the creation of a lightweight yet sturdy product that accurately represented the rock formations of Bohemian Paradise.
The Yakobium sandstone bow tie's unique design and innovative production process have not gone unnoticed. In 2020, it was awarded Silver in the A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and that evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder. The Yakobium sandstone bow tie certainly fits this description, with its robust yet lightweight structure and customizable shape, color, and size.
With the creation of the sandstone bow tie, Yakobium s.r.o has once again demonstrated their ability to transform ordinary materials into extraordinary pieces of art. This accessory, with its unique design and innovative production process, is a testament to the power of creativity and the endless possibilities of design.
